BATTLEFIELD 3 at GAMEFest

After queuing for about 3 hours, we're finally in for BF3... Only to find its on PS3! Sorry, but Wtf?!

"netdirekt" suck.

Apologies for the last 2 days where this and all my other stuff vanished from the face of the interwebs, but the datacentre clearly don't give a damn about their clients. The first email went unanswered, so after a second, slightly more aggressive approach, they finally fixed it.

Their excuse? It was on the "spam block list". I say bullshit. I could get to the server through its IP address and full name, but it wouldn't respond to requests on any domain hosted on the server. If it was on some block list, you'd expect either the entire server, including the IP addresses, to be unavailable. Either that or specific domains... So yeah, I've got no idea what the real reason is and I guess I'll never know, but for now I'm putting it down to their incompitence and laziness.

What about my stats?
There has been no problem with the server itself though, it just couldn't be accessed from outside the network. What that means is even though nobody could get to it, the server could still "see outside" so the update script was still running and updating your stats as normal.

Possible downtime

The datacentre hosting our servers is currently doing some maintenance on the network, so there may be some short periods of downtime until about 3AM UK time (GMT) or 4AM CET.

Moving Home!

Yup, I'm moving the site again. Have spent the past few days getting everything sorted on the new server ready, and just finished the last couple jobs. The site has been using the database stored on the new server for the past couple hours (yeah, erm... sorry about that... forgot to update the connection details to fetch news posts on homepage).

I'm just about to update the DNS records to point at the new server's IP address. Since the site is using the new server for the database anyway, it doesn't really matter which copy you see. If you want to know anyway, fire up your cmd/shell/terminal and ping bc2clanstats.com. If it says the IP is 94.23.39.118 then you're seeing the old server.

If you aren't seeing the new server yet, don't worry! There's not a great deal you can do, it's just a matter of sitting it out and waiting. It could take up to 48 hours for some, but most people will see the new server within a couple minutes.

IMPORTANT! Massive Cleanup Operation!

Some time soon (probably within the next week or two) I'm going to start a big cleanup operation. While it won't affect most of you, it will affect some. That affect might be more important to some than others but read on anyway...

What's getting cleaned?

Additional clans. I recently set Clan Manager to block extra clans being created, but there are probably half a dozen people with more than one in their account. If you are one of those people, reply to this thread with your info (account name, name of clans) and let me know what you want me to do. I'll consider each case individually, so if you think you have good reason to keep both clans then tell me. If you can't be bothered to speak up and say which clan you want saving, don't blame me if I delete the wrong one!

Unknown Players
There are an awful lot of players that are "unknown" and have been for quite some time. I'm gonna start weeding some of these out and getting rid of them so it's easier to make the desired changes to the database layout. If you have players that are "unknown" purely because they're registered on a console rather than PC, then post here and I'll keep hold of them. I'll be adding console support at some point so by mentioning their name now I can save you the job later, and they'll get their stats quicker. If you added a player with the wrong name and had to re-add them correctly, please delete the incorrect entry in your Clan Manager.


If your entire clan plays console-only and your players are all "unknown" as a result, let me know which console your clan plays and I'll just bulk-update all your players at once.

PLEASE NOTE!!!
If you're one of the people or clans that're gonna be affected by the cleanup operation and you don't inform me of what needs saving/moving/deleting, DON'T BLAME ME if I get rid of the wrong stuff! I'm giving you all plenty of warning before I clean out the crap, so if you want anything saving then post in this thread.
